This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected, used, and protected when you visit balintashton.ch (the "Website"). It is written to comply with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revised FADP, in force since 1 September 2023) and, for visitors in the European Union and European Economic Area, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Like most websites, our host (Squarespace) automatically collects certain technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and how you interact with the site. This is described further in Section 6 (Cookies).
We do not run a newsletter, sell products, or ask you to create an account, so we do not collect payment details, login credentials, or similar data.

We may also disclose data where required by law or to protect our legal rights.
5. International data transfers
Because our host Squarespace operates internationally, your data may be transferred to and stored in countries outside Switzerland and the EU/EEA, including the United States. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent Swiss safeguards, so that your data continues to receive an adequate level of protection.
6. Cookies
This Website is built on Squarespace, which uses cookies and similar technologies. When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies.
Cookies fall into two broad categories:
Essential cookies — required for the Website to function and stay secure (for example, cookies that manage security and verify form submissions, and a cookie that tests whether your browser supports cookies). These are always active and do not require consent.
Analytics and performance cookies — set by Squarespace to help us understand how visitors use the site (for example, distinguishing new and returning visitors and recording page interactions). These are only used if you consent via the cookie banner.
You can withdraw or change your cookie choices at any time through the banner, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. For the full, current list of cookies Squarespace sets, see Squarespace's Cookie Policy at squarespace.com/cookie-policy.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep contact-form messages only for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any related follow-up, after which they are deleted. Cookie data is retained for the periods set by each cookie, which range from the length of your browsing session up to around two years. We do not keep personal data longer than necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
8. How we protect your data
We rely on Squarespace's technical and organisational security measures, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS), to protect the personal data processed through this Website against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access.
9. Your rights
Subject to the Swiss FADP and, where applicable, the GDPR, you have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you;
Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
Erase your data ("right to be forgotten");
Restrict or object to certain processing;
Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing done before withdrawal;
Data portability — receive your data in a common electronic format (GDPR);
Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@balintashton.ch. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.
If you are in Switzerland, you may contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), www.edoeb.admin.ch. If you are in the EU/EEA, you may contact your national data protection authority.
10. Children's privacy
This Website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
11. External links
The Website contains links to third-party sites and platforms (for example, Instagram). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
