Bio
Balint Ashton is a Swiss freestyle sprinter and a member of the Swiss National Team. In 2026 he became double Swiss long-course champion, winning the 50m and 100m freestyle and taking silver in the 200m - the breakthrough season that earned his selection for the European Aquatics Championships in Paris.
Based in Arlesheim, Basel Land and training with Basel Aquatics under coach Xavier Fleury, Balint pairs explosive sprint speed with the discipline of a dual-career athlete: this autumn he begins a university degree in business and economics alongside full-time elite training.
His approach is simple: "Never say never, unless you're saying never give up." The horizon is the Olympic Games. Paris 2026 is where the climb goes continental.
The road to the Olympics
Balint has taken the first two steps towards his goal of reaching the Olympics in Los Angeles: first, being selected to represent Switzerland, and second, achieving the qualification times to race at the European Championships. Following Paris, he will target qualification and selection for the World Championships in Budapest.

Support the journey
Elite swimming carries real costs — training camps, travel, racing, and daily preparation all add up over a season. The table below shows the estimated average cost of a full season for Balint.
These figures exclude international events where Balint represents Switzerland: those, along with his national-team clothing and technical equipment, are covered by Swiss Aquatics. Everything else — all other competitions, his preparation, and his day-to-day training — falls to Balint and those who choose to support him.
Every contribution goes directly toward his journey to the Los Angeles Olympics. Whatever you're able to give makes a real difference, and it's genuinely appreciated.
